The Hidden Cost of Real Freedom 💭
In the Land of the Free, I say this with no disrespect.
Yeah, we’re free—for the most part at least.
Free to make choices, speak our minds, chase dreams, and be who we want to be. And of course, we’ve all been given God’s greatest and most dangerous gift: free will.
But let’s be real… that’s not the freedom I’m talking about.
And if you’re reading this, I bet you know that too.
I’m talking about that freedom.
The kind your soul’s been craving.
The kind that made you click on this blog.
The kind that only a small percentage of people ever taste—that 1% kind of freedom. 💸
That’s the freedom I’m after. And the deeper I go, the more I realize just how much it costs.
You ever seen one of those motivational videos that say,
“Disappear for 6 months… that’s all it takes to change your life”?
Well—I took the liberty of actually doing it. Again… and again… and again.
And I’m here to tell you—it works.
Every single time I chose isolation over distraction…
Discipline over ease…
Reflection over noise…
I came out a better man. A stronger, sharper, and more aligned with purpose type of better man. ⚔️
But it didn’t come cheap.
I’ve paid the price for cutting bad habits, living in boredom for long periods of time, and having to be brutally honest with myself.
But the hardest cost—the one that nearly took me out every time—was one word:
Loneliness.
And it makes sense though, right? If you want uncommon freedom, you gotta live an uncommon life.
And that kind of life will isolate you.
You’ll feel misunderstood.
Criticized.
Alone.
Sometimes even crazy.
But is it worth it?
You damn right it is. 🏁
So if you’re walking this path—or thinking about it—just know this:
Average will always be there.
College, jobs, safety nets… they’re not going anywhere.
But true freedom? I’m not sure if that will always be there.
And I’m not going to wait around to find out.
And you shouldn’t either.
