Hate What You Do? It’s Time for a Change

It’s clear you don’t like what you do. Not just to you—but to everyone. Your boss. Your co-workers. Your customers. Your spouse. Your kids. Even your dog knows.

So what should you do?

Quitting might seem like the obvious answer. But let’s be real—we have bills to pay, families to feed, and those dangerously tempting Amazon orders to cover. So, walking away overnight isn’t always the solution. Or is it?

The Leap That Changed Everything

After separating from the Navy, I got a job at Amazon to keep the bills paid while I pursued real estate on the side. I lasted about four months before I called it quits. My back was screaming at me, so I switched to a security officer gig—way easier on the body. That lasted three months before I made a bold decision…

I jumped into real estate full-time. No safety net. Just me, my ambition, and the belief that I could make it work.

Spoiler alert: It didn’t go as planned.

I found myself living off credit cards and a personal loan from Navy Fed (side note: never burn that bridge, they’re the best). And even with all that financial backing, I struggled to focus because deep down, I knew—I was on borrowed time.

And sure enough, time ran out.

A year and a half later, I was over $100K in debt with an unsuccessful real estate career. And I walked away.

Was It a Mistake? Or My Greatest Lesson?

As bad as that sounds, here’s why I asked you: Is quitting the answer?

Because despite how brutal that experience was, it forced me to face something most people avoid their entire lives: who I really am and what I actually love to do.

I learned that my calling isn’t in sales, it’s in speaking, writing, and creating. And while my leap into real estate may not have been the “wisest” financial move, in the long run, it was the most valuable decision I could’ve made.

And no, I’m no longer $100K in debt—I’m actively cleaning up that mess as we speak. But if I’m being honest, not taking that leap would’ve been the more expensive choice.

So, Should You Quit?

I’m not telling you to quit your job tomorrow.

I’m telling you that finding yourself and figuring out what you truly love should be your number one priority.

You have time outside of work—use it. Start exploring other ventures. Build that online business. Learn that skill. Whatever it is, take a chance on it. Maybe it’s not as big as the one I made, but at some point, you’re going to have to make a decision that scares you. Because the only way to get closer to doing something you love is to stop settling for what you hate.
